The mission of a Toastmasters club is to provide a mutually supportive and positive learning environment in which every member has the opportunity to develop communication and leadership skills, which in turn foster self-confidence and personal growth.
We practice prepared speeches, impromptu speaking and running a meeting. We wouldn't grow without feedback from our fellow members on how they saw us. Our typical meeting agenda shows how everything fits together?
A team of people is required to have a well run meeting and provide educational opportunities. We have a short description of the duties at our meeting.
You are welcome to visit. You don't have to do anything before you visit. We recomend you call ahead. A few times a year, we have a meeting at another location or the Rec Center closes. Directions to our meeting.
You are welcome to come and watch. You will be asked if you want to participate in table topics (impromtu speaking). This is optional for our guests.
The Toastmasters is a learn by doing program. A set of professionally prepared manuals provide guidelines for each speech and leadership project. The benefit is in doing each project and getting feedback.
In Toastmasters we don't get feedback from a single "expert". We get feedback from the entire club. This is important because two people sitting next to each other my see the speech completely differently. Just like the audiences we speak to.
That depends on how fast you want to grow. Toastmasters is a self paced program. The more time you put in the faster you will grow.
Daylighters is open to everyone over 18. We have members who are in the electronics & computer industries, members who are in the health care field, members who are in sales, members in the finance industry and members who are small business owners. We have had a member who is a student and a members who are retired. We have had members who's second language is English and members members who speak professionally.
